Good Evening,
Having fulfilled my duties as technology specialist for Mother Feather, I'm very excited to write today's blah blah blah...
You will I'm sure, be fascinating to learn that today's breakfast was a return to form at Morir Sonando. You can not eat there too often. Before I died in my dream, I scanned the days headlines and came across a real gem in celebration of Martin Luther King's birthday (compliments of TalkingPointsMemo.com)...
Apparently the great state of Texas has once again grabbed the baton of social justice with some timely adjustments to the public school curriculum. While primary thanks is due to one Don McLeroy, board member of the Texas State Board of Education for his continuing efforts to level the playing field for (wealthy) white men throughout US, the real legwork of of justice was carried out on a 7-6 vote by the remaining board members in ratifying his amendments.
Leading the charge, McLeroy states that public education "... standards are rife with leftist political periods and events: the populists, the progressives, the New Deal, and the Great Society,” he wrote. “Including material about the conservative resurgence of the 1980s and 1990s provides some political balance to the document.”
Among the ratified amendments, one would: "Describe the causes and key organizations and individuals of the conservative resurgence of the 1980s and 1990s, including Phyllis Schafly, the Contract with America, the Heritage Foundation, the Moral Majority, and the National Rifle Association."
And ever forward thinking, McLeroy has entered an amendment to be voted on later this year that would: "Evaluate changes and events in the United States that have resulted from the civil rights movement, including increased participation of minorities in the political process and unrealistic expectations for equal outcomes."
If you're like me, you had no idea who the hell Phyllis Schafly was until you just read her name.
She might be the most thought provoking person I've ever read about.
You can decide for yourself here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phyllis_Schlafly
But on second thought, maybe a photo is all you'll need...
Lastly, there is not a Casey Shea gig tonight.
You're probably as grateful as I am...
But I doubt it.

"Technology Specialist?" Let's not get ahead of ourselves here, Basile. I'll sign off on "Stuff Technician," or "Technical Associate." Ok, you can have "Special Technicianal Advisor." Cause you're special too.
